Danchen Gao has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Her work spans both small and large molecule dosage form design, U.S. 505(b)(2) regulatory pathways, global strategic marketing, intellectual property strategy, and innovation strategy. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles in both large and specialty pharmaceutical companies, including Abbott Laboratories, Pharmacia/Pfizer, Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals, Anchen Pharmaceuticals, AbbVie, and most recently, Overseas Pharmaceuticals.
Danchen is also an accomplished inventor in formulation design. Notably, she led and co-invented the Celebrex® (celecoxib) compositions, with its patent granted in more than 60 countries. In recognition of her significant contributions to drug delivery and formulation science, she received the Controlled Release Society Women in Science Award in 2014.
She earned her B.S. in Chemistry and Environmental Engineering from Beijing University of Technology and her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.
